Families who graduate from Family Promise may find that their first year of self-sufficiency is a difficult adjustment. During this transition, you can volunteer to mentor families who have moved into stable housing.
Mentors provide ongoing support and tools to help families maintain their employment and affordable housing. The goal is to keep families from becoming homeless again.
You will be trained to help families:
- Develop life skills
- Connect with community resources
- Improve their housing and employment situations
- Nurture and support their children
Perhaps most importantly, you will be a person the families can trust as they move through their next set of challenges and successes.
