Are you ready to help end homelessness in Gwinnett County? Volunteers are the heart beat of Family Promise of Gwinnett and we would love for you to join our family! We partner with churches and volunteers from the community to provide them with the opportunity to serve and encourage the families in our program. We have opportunities to serve in the evening hours 365 days a year.

PROMISE HAVEN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Dinner Host: Dinner is a hot meal prepared at volunteer homes or in your congregation’s kitchen. It is served at about 6:30pm. Cooking dinner is a good opportunity for congregational groups, such as, Bible study, women’s circle, men’s groups, and couples groups to get involved with the program. Volunteers arrive between 6pm and 6:30.

Evening Host: Evening hosts open Promise Haven at 6pm to welcome guests into the house. They socialize with the families, welcome volunteers, and assist parents with children’s needs. Volunteer shifts are 6pm to 8:30pm Monday-Friday and 5pm to 8:30pm Saturday-Sunday.

Overnight Host: Two hosts spend the night at Promise Haven. Overnight hosts spend time with guests, help older children with homework, and are available in case of emergency. On Saturday, Overnight hosts leave at 8am once the Day hosts arrive. On Sundays, the families leave the house by 8am. Some overnight hosts even prepare breakfast. Volunteer shifts are 8pm to 8am Friday and Saturday.

Day Host: Saturday’s are the only days that families are allowed to come and go throughout the day. Day hosts provide the gift of presence to allow families to stay home and do chores or to run errands and return to the house. Volunteer shifts are 8am to 1pm and 1pm to 6pm.

Community volunteers who are not members of our partner churches are more than welcome to get involved with Promise Haven.
